Thomas von Hahn is co-coordinator of the Blakes Real Estate Group, made up of approximately 40 lawyers. He is well known as an adviser to pension funds and institutional and private investors in the acquisition and disposition of real property and mortgage portfolios, and has also been active in the privatization and disposition of government assets throughout Canada. Thomas has structured real estate joint ventures and partnerships and placed financing secured by real estate on behalf of both individuals and institutions.

Thomas has been an instructor for The Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) bar admission course in the real estate section. He is the Canadian president of the Canadian German Lawyers Association and speaks German fluently. An active member of the International Council of Shopping Centres and the International Bar Association, his articles on real estate investment and lending have appeared in publications of the International Bar Association. Thomas lectured at the Osgoode Hall Law School intensive program in business law from 2000 to 2003. Thomas has presented papers and appeared on panels on commercial real estate investment, financing, leasing and enforcement matters for Real Leasing, Insight, Federated Press and the Canadian Institute.

Jörg Swoboda, geb. 1969, ist seit Oktober 2006 Syndikus der HANNOVER Finanz GmbH. Er studierte Jura an den Universitäten Bayreuth und Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto (Master of Laws, 1997). Jörg Swoboda ist seit 1995 als Rechtsanwalt zugelassen und war von 1997 bis 2006 als Anwalt und anschließend als Partner in namhaften Wirtschaftskanzleien tätig. Alexander has 20 years experience representing German speaking clients doing business in Ontario with a special focus on German-Canadian cross border corporate, commercial, real estate and litigation matters. He acts as general counsel and director for real estate investment syndicates, asset and property managers, general contractors and real estate developers.

Stefan Rizor has advised on a large number of major domestic and cross-border acquisitions and transactions. He advises numerous companies on the establishment of their businesses and the handling of their national and international trade. He is also a litigator in Court, as well as in arbitration proceedings.

He worked as a legal counsel for major real estate and property development companies on the realisation of large business parks and real estate projects.

Stefan is author of various publications and speaks at seminars for well-known seminar organisations, covering a broad range of commercial legal issues. He is a member of the board of the Canadian-German Lawyers Association and president of the Canadian German Business Club. He joined Osborne Clarke in July 2001.

Prof. Dr. Olaf Sosnitza, Jahrgang 1963, studierte von 1984 bis 1989 Rechts- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Universität Bayreuth. Nach dem Ersten Juristischen Staatsexamen und dem Abschluss der Bayreuther Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Zusatzausbildung mit dem Grad des „Wirtschaftsjuristen“ begann er 1989 mit dem Referendariat im Bezirk des Oberlandesgerichts Bamberg. Im Wintersemester 1990/1991 belegte er das Zusatzstudium an der Hochschule für Verwaltungswissenschaften in Speyer. Seine Wahlstation mit Schwerpunkt im Handels- und Gesellschaftsrecht sowie gewerblichem Rechtsschutz absolvierte er in der Kanzlei Lette, Whittaker & Partner in Toronto, Kanada. Nach dem Zweiten juristischen Staatsexamen 1992 war er als Wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl für Bürgerliches Recht, Wirtschafts- und Handelsrecht bei Prof. Dr. Volker Emmerich an der Universität Bayreuth tätig. Dort promovierte er 1994 mit der Schrift „Wettbewerbsbeschränkungen durch die Rechtsprechung – Erscheinungsformen und Ursachen auf dem Gebiet des Lauterkeitsrechts“. Von 1994 bis 1997 war Professor Sosnitza Rechtsanwalt in der internationalen Sozietät Deringer Tessin Herrmann Sedemund (heute: Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer), Köln, mit den Schwerpunkten Wettbewerbsrecht, gewerblicher Rechtsschutz, Urheber- und Medienrecht. Im Jahre 2001 habilitierte er sich mit der Arbeit „Besitz und Besitzschutz – Sachherrschaft zwischen faktischem Verhältnis, schuldrechtlicher Berechtigung und dinglichem Recht“ an der Universität Bayreuth und erhielt die Lehrbefugnis für die Fächer Bürgerliches Recht, Handels- und Wirtschaftsrecht, Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz und Zivilprozessrecht. Es folgten Lehrstuhlvertretungen an der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg (Wintersemester 2001/2002) und an der Universität Erfurt (Sommersemester 2002). Nach Ablehnung eines Rufs auf einen Lehrstuhl für Privatrecht und Nebengebiete (insbesondere Zivilverfahrens- und Insolvenzrecht) an der Bucerius-Law-School in Hamburg nahm er im Wintersemester 2002/2003 den Ruf auf die Nachfolge von Prof. Dr. Hans Forkel an der Bayerischen Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg an. Herr Professor Sosnitza ist verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder.
